How to use SyncTranslate

Follow this quick setup guide to start live transcription and translation in a few minutes.

Step 1. Install and launch SyncTranslate

Download SyncTranslate from the App Store, open the app, and start with the Welcome screen.

• Use the Download from App Store button below.
• Launch the app and verify that the main screen loads correctly.

Step 2. Download required model

Open the model section and download the primary model required for transcription and translation.

• The first model is required for live usage.
• Additional optional models can be installed later.

Step 3. Grant microphone and system audio access

Allow macOS permissions so the app can capture microphone input and system audio for meetings.

• Enable Microphone access.
• Enable System Audio capture if your workflow needs it.

Step 4. Enable live translation and choose languages

Turn on Live Translation, select Translation mode, then choose source and target languages.

• Toggle Live Translation on.
• Set source and target language pair before recording.

Step 5. Choose local or cloud model providers

Use local models for fully local processing, or switch to cloud providers when needed.

• Local mode keeps processing on your device.
• Cloud mode can be used when you need remote model options.
